Michele Brenton aka banana_the_poet is a popular modern media poet and blogger voted Twitter's most popular human poet in the Shorty Awards 2011 and the writer of the best selling poetry series The Alternative Poetry Books
Her most recent collection - Banana's Bumper Xmas Book is an ebook compilation published by Endaxi Press
Born and brought up in Swansea, South Wales she shares her birthdate and birthplace with a slightly more famous and much more dead poet - Dylan Thomas. 
Her first published poem appeared in 2001 in the anthology When The Teacher Isn't Looking - edited by David Harmer and published by MacMillan.
At the end of 2009 Michele published the first of a seven book paperback series of popular accessible poetry; Alternative Poetry Books - Yellow edition reached number 31 in the UK Amazon Poetry Bestseller's List in December 2009.
Alternative Poetry Books - Pink edition followed in the first half of 2010 
Alternative Poetry Books Blue edition - was released in the Summer of 2010
The remaining four in the series are in the pipeline.
Michele's poems appear in the anthologies, Prompted - edited by Pearl Ketover Prilik published in 2011 and Poetic Bloomings: the first year - compiled by Marie Elena Good and Walter J. Wojtanik published in 2012.

One of her more quirky projects, a poetic parody of the Fifty Shades novels in ebook entitled: Fifty Shades of Blue - the trilogy,  achieved number one bestseller status in the UK Amazon poetry charts.
